An Insiders selection!
Drammens Museum has been a museum since 1908, and we like to say that we have approx. 50,000 items in our collection. In the collection we have "ones" within their genre, such as trophies from Nøstetangen, silver objects from famous silversmiths in Drammen, rose-painted objects by Herbrand Sata, textiles woven by Frida Hansen and paintings by JC Dahl.
Popular lecture series on the concept of identity
What do we put in the concept of identity? In a series of lectures, we have invited researchers in various disciplines to share their knowledge with us and the public at our Culture Evenings based on the concept of identity.
Cyclical time at Hallingtunet
We think we are getting less and less time, and feel more and more need to arrange the little time we have. We have calendars, with dates for each day of the year, and weeks and months with names in specific order. A record calendar has a spring page and an autumn page; on June 30, we turn the calendar over, and when the year is over, we throw it away: the year is over, we are done with it, and it will never come again.
Generous support for Art Criticism on the fly
Drammens Museum has received support from the Norwegian Cultural Council for further development of the concept "Art criticism on fire!"
Rural art at a museum in the city
At Drammens Museum we have a fabulously beautiful collection of 18th and 19th century art and visual art culture from town and country. Highlights of this collection are displayed daily in the museum's main building at the exhibition Objects for Life.
The school's cultural history
School is something that absolutely everyone is interested in. Everyone has parents who have gone to school, everyone has gone to school, most have children who go to school.
We at the museum
In addition to museum director Åsmund Thorkildsen, we are 10 employees at Drammens Museum who work in various ways to ensure that our audience is met with a comprehensive and varied museum offer.

Kjell Nilsen - leader of Friluftsmuseet's friends
Kjell Nilsen is the leader of Drammens Museum's new Friends Association Friluftsmuseet Venner and was in his time to start both Gulskogen's farm friends and Austad farm friends. I have a commitment to both culture and sports and my heart beats for Drammen, he says eagerly before the start of the season for the new friends association.
Dissemination to children and young people every day throughout the year
Every day throughout the school year, it is crowded with children and young people here at the museum. The various dissemination schemes are adapted to age, theme and curricula. During a school year, there are about 10,000 students at the museum from 7 different municipalities through DKS.
Launch of the magazine MUSEET
On Saturday 4 June, we launch the magazine MUSEET, which is a magazine from Drammens Museum.
Find Schjøll on the museum's garden day
Finn Schjøll held a terrific flower show on the museum's garden day on 22 May. The audience clapped and laughed so the tears rolled! There was otherwise a good atmosphere among exhibitors and in the children's workshops.
The museum building is finally restored
The museum is in the process of renovating the façade of the museum building, which began in 1924 and was completed in 1930. After the façade renovation, the building will appear in its former glory.
Art criticism fired!
The concept is inspired by cooking and music programs on television. We have arranged two evenings with this concept and experience that the audience finds this both educational and entertaining.
