Associations and volunteers
Drammen Museum Association
The association was founded in 1908 and began the first collection of objects from Drammen and the district. In 1911, the association moved its collections to Marienlyst farm and in this way created the core facility in Drammens Museum.
In the 1930s, the Friends of the Drammen Museum were founded to support the museum with financial means and in other ways. After the Drammens Museumsforening transferred all its assets to the new foundation Drammens Museum, these two associations were merged. The association elects two members to the board of the foundation and otherwise continues the work the friends' association previously did.
The leader is currently Vibeke Kiær.
Drammen Art Association (DKF)
The association was founded in 1867 to promote art interest among the people of Drammen. The activity was divided between arranging exhibitions of contemporary art, holding an art lottery among the members and building up a collection of Norwegian art.
From 1996, the Art Association was part of the Drammens Museum foundation. After the foundation was concluded, the Art Association continued as a friends' association for the museum, and has its own offers related to art. The association curates an exhibition this year which is exhibited at Drammens Museum. DKF elects two members to the foundation's board.
