Garden walk in the historic garden by the museum gardener at the Norwegian Folk Museum, Jan Høvo

In connection with the garden day, the museum gardener at the Norwegian Folk Museum Jan Høvo holds two garden walks in the historic garden at Marienlyst.

In the garden walks, Jan Høvo will tell about the garden's history from the original loop plant that became a pleasure garden in the latter part of the 18th century, to the garden's expression and role in the time of gardener Knudsen in the 19th century. He will talk about the plants in the facility and their history, as well as how we work with garden history today. The development in which garden archeology and the use of georadar has become increasingly useful as a method. Jan Høvo will also tell a little about how the gardens were looked after over the years. What tools were used, and what knowledge was there about, among other things, cultivation, fertilizers and pests?
