Toys. From porcelain to plastic, a historical journey in favourites

Vi viser et utvalg fra Drammens Museums samlinger – fra tøydukken som er over to hundre år gammel til teddybjørnen som kom til museet i 1995. 

Why don't we have completely modern toys? That's because there's no more room in our magazines. That is why we are so lucky to be able to borrow favorite toys from students at two primary schools in Drammen. In this way, we will create dialogue between the past and the present. What are the similarities and differences? And how have the games developed over two hundred years?

Some of the toys we show have lived a long and good life with lots of love. Are there toys still around today that are used and loved for years? And which is your childhood favorite?

This is an exhibition for several generations. Both grandparents and grandchildren will be able to visit the exhibition and see unique toys from several generations. Here you will be able to remember older times, discover commonalities and differences, and have good conversations and the joy of recognition across age groups.
