The museum receives a million-dollar gift – opening its doors to a new era of art experiences
Savings bank foundation DNB has given a generous grant of several million kroner to Drammens Museum – an initiative that lays the foundation for a new and exciting era for art communication and audience experiences!
The funds will be used for a comprehensive upgrade and expansion of the Lychepaviljongen – our central gallery for visual arts and tangible cultural heritage. This includes both structural and technical improvements, as well as a significant expansion of the exhibition space. The result? A whole new space of possibilities for showcasing art we could previously only dream of.
One of the most exciting consequences of the initiative is that the unique collection of American urban photography, owned by Sparebankstiftelsen DNB and deposited with us, can finally be displayed at the museum. The collection, which is currently on display at our partner Lillehammer Art Museum, is scheduled to be experienced in its entirety in the Lychepaviljongen in 2027.
In addition, this promise provides a golden opportunity to revitalize the entire presentation of the museum's own art collections. In 2028, we will open the doors to a completely new permanent exhibition, with a new installation and a renewed look – tailored to excite both loyal guests and new visitors.
We look forward to sharing this journey with the public – and to welcoming you to a developing museum, full of new stories to tell.
