Nō (Noh) theater performance
Welcome to the Nō (Noh) theater performance in the Japanese garden at Drammen's museum.
It is a great pleasure to welcome a performance with Yoko Layer, one of Japan's foremost professional female practitioners of the Nō (Noh) art form. She is associated with the Umewaka nohteater in Higashinakano in Tokyo. Layer has been invited to Norway by Buskerud Art Centre, Drammen's museum and Aparte Festival to hold a performance in the Japanese garden at Drammen's museum together with two musicians. This is the first time Layer visits Norway, so don't miss this unique opportunity to experience one of Japan's foremost Noh theater performers.
Nō (Noh) is one of the world's oldest theater forms and has roots all the way back to the end of the 14th century. The theater form has had a great influence on other art forms and is characterized by strict rules and style, but is also psychological drama. The theater form mixes elements of mask play, dance, song, costumes, music and poetry.
Yoko Layer will also hold a workshop and introduction to Noh theater at Buskerud art center in week 31.
