Eivor Winther Sunesen is employed as museum director from 1 July 2024

The board of Drammens Museum has hired Eivor Winther Sunesen as museum director from 1 July. Sunesen has served in the position for two years.

We are very pleased that Eivor Winther Sunesen will continue to lead the museum, says chairman Vibeke M. Kiær. Since the summer of 2022, Sunesen has led the museum into a new era and enjoys great trust both in the board and among the employees.

The museum has laid out a strategy to create stronger ties with our local and regional public and create good relationships in the local environment. The vision is to be a central meeting place where everyone can experience culture, history and art. As an important part of the strategy, the museum shall to a greater extent emphasize the genuineness of the museum's own collections, buildings and museum facilities and through projects ensure that the museum develops to become accessible to a wider public.

Eivor Winther Sunesen has a great commitment to the entire museum, to the team of competent employees, to the versatile and interesting collections and to the unique buildings the museum owns around the city. She has solid museum expertise and experience from leading positions in art and cultural institutions in Norway over almost 30 years. From 2001 as finance and administration manager and deputy manager at Drammens Museum, and from 1995 to 2000 in a similar position at Kunstnernes Hus. She was first consultant at KORO from 2000-2001, as well as an intern at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, in 1998, and a resident at the DIA Art Foundation, New York, in 2007. Sunesen has previously also worked in London and Stockholm.

Eivor Winther Sunesen is a civil economist with a Master's in museum and gallery management (1995) from City University, London and a Bachelor's in economics and administration (1993) from the University of Bath, England.
